10:20am

I've been reading and learning about
using looms since I just picked up
some from a church sale this past Saturday.
Now all I need to do is find some
cheap bags of yarn at a yard sale :0).
Yarn at stores can be costly!

I would love to learn how
to make blankets, rugs and potholders
from these looms.
I remember when I was little
using a small loom to make
potholders.  Anyone remember
making these with the stretch rubber
band type fabric loops?
Pot Holder Loom
I have also looked into the rectangular
looms for making scarves, hats and socks.

""KNIFTY KNITTER - RECTANGLE LOOM"" - NEW
JoAnns carries rectangle and round
knitting looms for $3.75 up
to around $12.00.

The Columbus library carries
loom instruction books.
But at the moment they are all checked out
so you'll have to put a reserve on
them to get on a waiting list.

So for now I'll just keep my eye out
for some yarn at some yard sales.
Maybe early Fall I can start some of those
projects and make some potholders
for a few Christmas gifts for
the women on our list.

Gardening

I just thought of this idea for people
to get a variety of plants into a small
garden without the extra expense.

I can usually find 6 packs of
veggies for around $1.67.

Some people don't have a use for
all 6 plants especially if only growing
for a single person or a couple.

I was thinking
that if you could find another family
member or friend who also does
gardening that you could trade off plants
to have a variety of different vegetables.

Say you buy 6 beefsteak and 6 cherry tomato plants.  Your friend buys 6 cayenne peppers
and 6 bell peppers and another friend
buys 6 cucumbers and 6 broccoli.
Why not trade off
4 of each type of tomato
and trade to get 2 of each variety
of vegetables
your friends or family may have.

So for $3.34 you could
have 2 beefsteak tomatoes
2 cherry tomatoes
2 cayenne peppers
2 bell peppers
2 cucumbers &
2 broccoli.

This is an example for a smaller
type of garden.
Trading could also be done
for larger gardens in larger quantities.

It's just a thought to help
people in this economy.
I've been reading about the recession
and many people would share
food grown in their gardens.

How many veggies to plant for your
family

HERE is a guide for a family of
4 of what and how many to plant
of each typical vegetable variety.

It would also be based upon what your
family likes to eat fresh and what
you would want to have stored in
the freezer or canned.

To really be able to determine how
many pounds of veggies your family
eats per year is to keep a record
of all the fresh produce you buy
in a year's time.
Then determine how much a vegetable
plant will produce and grow however
many plants you may need for up
to a year's worth of food.
This is providing you have the space
to plant a large garden.

HERE is a chart of what to expect
each plant to yield.

3:30pm

I woke up this morning
with a scratchy throat and
a mild round of diarrhea.

This afternoon I got up from
my nap with really bad dizzy spells
like the room was moving and I had
to hold onto something to keep from
falling over.  I went to the bathroom
to pee and once done I started feeling
extremely hot and started sweating really
bad.  I made it to the couch and flopped
down on it til it passed.
I feel a little better now
at 4:30pm but still feel a little dizzy.
It almost feels like when I had
the stomach virus and toe infection
and made a trip by ambulance
to the ER back in November.
The only difference at the moment
is I don't have throwing up
or the chills.
I don't think I am dehydrated like
last time because the mild diarrhea
came this morning and I have
drank several glasses of clear fluids
all day.
So at the moment I don't know
what is going on out of the blue
with me.  I pray that it passes
as quickly as it came!!
It scared me as I thought I was
going through what I went through
back in November.
Not something I would like to experience again!!

So anyway I went outside to get
some fresh air and walk around my mini
garden area to check on everything.

Everything is coming along so fast

and growing like weeds to my amazement.
Grapevine progress.

I planted yellow, green & lima
beans and chives 5-8-11 and here they
are today.

 Here are some yellow and
white onions coming back from
last year.
My banana peppers, which
I have yet to plant, are
starting to show some flowers on them.
