7:15am

I had another one of those nights again.
I woke up around 1am and probably
didn't go back to sleep til 2:30am.

My honey called off work today
due to his back/side hurting.
Doc said he could put heat on
the area that's hurting so I've hooked
him up with the electric blanket.
And when he's not in bed I got
him some Therma Care heat wraps
for the back.
I think I'll take him out to breakfast
this morning then it's back home
for him to rest.

-----------------------------

They had Gooseberry Patch
on Fox 28 News this morning.
They had a recipe for
Jumbo Quiche Muffins that sounded
like something I could make for
the freezer.  So might give this
a try soon.  I have some precooked
marked down Kroger bacon, my
marked down eggs I got last night,
canned biscuits are always a staple
in this house and I have leftover
Velveeta and cream cheese
or even some leftover spinach chip dip
in it's place.
I'd bake in the muffin pans, allow
to cool, then place in ziploc
gallon baggies and put in the freezer.
Microwave to warm up.

and brought us more food freebies
from the senior recreation center.

head of lettuce, container of grape tomatoes,
6 ears of corn and a large round
layer bakery style cake.  This will
be put in the freezer for Jonathan's
birthday in about 5 weeks.

7:25am

Last night I took one Tylenol PM
before bed to help me sleep through
the night.  While I slept good, I
feel as though I am having a hard
time waking up this morning.

-------------------------------------

The Northland Village's Menards
mega store is opening sometime in April.
Menards is located where the old
Sears building sat when Northland
Mall was still around.
Check out the news story here.
--------------------------------

8:30am

Put some pollock fish fillets
in a casserole dish with
some stir fry sauce.
I set it in the fridge to marinate
til supper time.

------------------------------------

----------------------------------------

9:30am

Woo hoo, my honey just called
from work to say he found me some
curtain rod brackets in the apartment
he's working in.  I really needed
these to hang up my living room curtains
the proper way.  My rod is currently
resting upon a couple drywall screws.
Hey, whatever works, right, lol.
By him finding this for me will have
saved me $5 for a set plus my time
and gas to go to the store.
Iron Brackets, Rings, Tubes

--------------------------------------

9:40am

Since I'm feeling a little groggy this
morning I decided not to paint
any walls.  Instead I'm working
on caulking the molding in the hallway
that never got done since we installed it.
The rest of the house I used a caulk gun.
With this hallway all my honey was
able to get me was tube caulk.
It's going a little slow with this stuff.
But hey it's better than nothing!
This caulk is paintable.
Here are some before photos.
You can see the gaps above, below
and in corners of the molding.
This is because it's an older house
and the walls are uneven due to
when it was made or even settling.
Or from people who are not
professionals at doing this kind of stuff.
This is where you use caulk
to fill in those gaps to make
it look better.

10:25am
Got almost half the hallway caulked.
Needed a break as my neck was starting
to hurt.
I just wanted to add that to put molding
up around the living & dining room
and around the hallway and to
use as a chair rail cost
us $30!!  We found the trim at Habitat.

--------------------------------

I found another new thrift store
that just recently opened.
This is for those of you in the
Pataskala, Blacklick & Reynoldsburg
areas.

2nd Hand Is Best

We are now open for business, we are a new store and we something for everyone. We have clothes, toys, baby items, household items, jewelry, furniture, electronics and more come check us out. We take consignments and donations. 614-769-0103

12986 National Rd Sw
Pataskala, Oh 43062
10-6:30 everyday except mondays
On the corner of Mink St and Main St

------------------------------------

 Anyone see any problems
with these pictures?!
Makes me want to crawl back
into bed and under the covers.

I am sooo tired of these 4 letter words-
Cold & Snow!!
I would prefer these instead-
Warm, Nice, and
I'd even take Rain at this point.

5:00pm

5:30pm

Supper.

Pollock fish fillets marinated
in stir fry sauce.  I then took a
leftover bag of chips that had nothing
but crumbs in it and combined it
with the last bit of leftover
cheddar cheese.  I then sprinkled
this on top the fillets and baked.
I served it with organic mac & cheese
and with a microwaved potato topped
with spinach dip and a little
parmesan.
 ----------------------------------

7:45pm

Had to run to Krogers
and get Tony's prescription.
Sounds like he might call off
work tomorrow due to him
experiencing a lot of pain
in his back and side.
The Vicadins don't seem to
take the pain away.

While at Kroger I
found 2 half gallons milk marked
down to .89 cents each
and only 1 gallon at $1.38.
Also got  two 64 ounce Light Ocean
Spray cranberry juice.
On sale for $2.28 and there was
a $1.00 coupon on it making
it $1.28 each.
A dozen jumbo eggs for .99 cents
and once again I got 8 more
Reeses peanut butter eggs free with coupons.

I'm sure food prices are going to
start getting stupid soon.
We passed by a gas station and saw the
price rose .11 cents since yesterday
to $2.65 a gallon. It was $2.44.

7:40am
Getting old sucks.  For the past
couple weeks like clockwork I've
been waking up between 1 & 3:00am.
And this is after going to bed around
11-12:00am, sometimes earlier.
My nap time has been irregular too.
I try to lay down but end up getting
back up.  So who knows what is going on.
Maybe it's stress and my mind working
overtime.

--------------------------------

8:45-9:30am

I made a huge batch of
vegetable beef soup.

I cut up and divided the
large round steak then divided
it up between the soup in the crock pot,
soup container for the freezer and an extra
container to make stir fry with.

This vegetable beef soup has
all kinds of leftovers in it along with
things that needed used up from the pantry.
Freezers are packed full so time
use up some leftovers in there.

Ingredients-
beef round steak cubed, corn, peas,
potato soup, carrots, tomatoes,
onions, celery, garlic cloves, garlic powder,
steak sauce, green beans, hash browns,
cubed potatoes, mac & cheese shells,
barbecue seasoning salt, beef broth,
tomato soup and even some leftover homemade
chili dog sauce.

------------------------------------------

I think this coming Saturday
we will be going to our first
garage sale of the season.
Woo Hoo!
It's actually a church sale which
is my favorite.  They had it posted
on their sign out front.
So if anyone is interested
it's on Francisco off Kenny Rd
near Godown Rd.
Time is 8am-12pm Saturday April 2nd.

My hubby has the on call pager this week
which sucks and is a stressful time
for all of us.  At least this sale
is just around the corner from his work
should he get paged out.

--------------------------------------

10:00-10:40am

Removed the curtains from the
bay window.  Started painting around
all the windows and sill.
Hands started going numb
so had to take a break from it.

Don't know if I'll get this wall
painted today, just the trim.
Trying to do the window during the
day time hours because I don't want
to remove curtains at night and
have everyone gawking in.
Plus tonight I think I'm taking
Tony to Urgent Care.  He's been
having severe side/back pains
since last Thursday/Friday.  I don't
know if he's pulled something
or it's something else.

If you enlarge the window picture
you can see our 90 year old neighbor
and her son working on their yard
that was dug up recently to repair
a pipe.  The company that came out
to replace the pipes
left the yard a big mess.
They used to have a nice yard.
The older lady has told me she doesn't
even want to open her curtains
because it just depresses her to see
her yard like that.
We'd help them out but don't think
neither of our backs are in that
good of shape to be hauling and
digging that much dirt and rocks.

That's another thing we still have to fix
is where they dug up a little section
of our yard also.

------------------------------------

Rumor has it that Kroger is
going to stop doubling or
tripling coupons by April 18th.
In this economy that will hurt many
people or force them to shop elsewhere!
Meijers and Giant Eagle still
doubles coupons but who knows
if they will also do away
with doubling coupons.

I don't understand why they are
doing this because I think only
about 8 percent of people actually
use coupons in stores.  Maybe
they had an increase with the economy
the way it is.  The price of food is
only going to go up along
side of the gas prices.

 ---------------------------------------

6:00pm

Took Tony over to Urgent Care.
They said he has a pulled muscle
and gave him vicaden? for the pain.
Says it pretty much has to heal on it's own
and didn't give him any other medication
for inflammation.

----------------------------

7:00pm

Getting flustered trying to hook up
the WOW converter boxes in order
to view our cable tv.  All channels
above 52 are gone at the moment
without these boxes.  We got one box
hooked up only to read on the screen
they are experiencing problems in our
area and it won't work at the moment.  Grrr!
So ended up taking the box off.

I got 2 free converter boxes.  Anything
we need after that we have to pay
$1.99 a month for.
I'm seriously thinking about
putting the 2 converter boxes
in the kids rooms and splurging
to get a LCD TV with digital converter
built in for our bedroom.
This way we wouldn't need
that stupid rental converter box
and wouldn't waste money
on renting one.

Instead that money could be put towards
a new tv that would eventually pay
for itself in 4-8 years (depending
upon size of tv) of what I would
have been paying for the converter box.

I did check out Wow's website to see
if I could use these digital tv converters
that I found in place of their converters
and it said no!  But you can use
a newer tv with it already built in.

Now if I can only figure out how
to do away with the rental dvr and
find something else that would
record our shows on tv.

-------------------------------

9:00pm

I went ahead and finished painting
the bay window.  Then I ended up
painting 95% of the front living
room wall this evening.
I feel better knowing I got
this much accomplished today.

Window trim done and walls before.

 After.

Still need to hang the curtain
a little higher.

3-28-11

8:30-10:00am

I made some decorative
pieces for my walls.

I took apart the .59 cents
pillow sham I got from the
thrift store yesterday
and removed the zipper.

I reused some picture frames
I had and cut out 4 pieces of
fabric from the pillow sham
fabric that would fit over
the frames.
I then hot glued the fabric
around the frames.
If ever I wanted to reuse the lighthouse
pictures I can just remove the fabric
from them.

I'm not sure where I'm putting
them.  Here for the moment I put
them on shelves above my sofa.
This wall is still unpainted
which explains the paint samples on it.

I still have two more walls
(also trim, molding, windows & door frames)
to paint in the living room
and the hallway.
I'm hoping to have it done this week.

2:15-2:35pm

Another wall partially painted.
Before.

After

3:00-3:45pm

Nothing but trim.
Did a double coat on the bottom
trim and got half the outter
trim on the window done
with one coat.
--------------------------------

The other day when I did hubby's
hair with Just For Men they had
the plastic gloves in this little
plastic bottle.  I saved the bottle
and put some ibuprofen and Tums
in it for my purse.
You could do the same with empty
Tic Tac containers.
----------------------------------

I leave one of my crock pots
on the counter all the time.

When my crock pot is not in use
I use it as a bread box
and a place to store opened
chips or crackers.

----------------------------

Tonight we had to make a special
trip to Kroger to get Christopher
things for a packed lunch tomorrow.
Don't ya just love when they mention
these things the day before.
I got another 8 Reeses peanut butter
eggs free with my coupons.
I have more than enough candy
at the moment to go in the kids
Easter baskets!  The rest will go
into mama's chocolate stash as
reeses peanut butter cups are
my favorite!  I have 17 more
coupons left which will equal
34 more peanut butter eggs, LOL!
I'll freeze them if I have to.

Free package of Uncle Ben's Rice.
