8:15am

Rising cost of diapers
and toilet paper.

Selling prices for items like Huggies diapers and baby wipes, Pull-Ups training pants and GoodNites youth pants will go up 3 percent to 7 percent on average in the U.S. and Canada. Net selling prices for Cottonelle and Scott 1000 bathroom tissue will likely rise by about 7 percent in the U.S. Price changes vary by brand and pack size.

Other ways to combat the diaper price hike? Use cloth diapers or try store brands. You can also find a diaper coupons to print online.

10:00-11:00am

Went to the flea market this morning.
While there was more vendors
the selection of things seemed to suck.
I did find a box of torch like
porch lights (2 matching
and one odd ball) for $2.00 for all.
I was really hoping for a set
like the odd ball light, something
with more of a pointy top
and bottom.  So we'll see if I can
do anything with these.
I want to paint them black,
remove the electrical guts,
and add flameless candles
to them for indoor use.
Maybe I could find something
to attach to the bottoms of
them to make them more ornate
and pointy.  I know some people think
I am strange and sometimes crazy, lol,
because I can find ways to recycle
things that other people might think
that are junk. I get these visions
of new uses from recycled things that other
people can't quite comprehend til
they see the finished project.

11:00-12:00pm

Got all our Pompass Grass cut down
and bundled up.

12:00pm-

Time to straighten up the main
living areas of the house.
Might give my friend from high
school a call while they are
still in town before they return
back to Germany.

SUPER MOON TONIGHT!!

A "Super Moon" will rise in the east at sunset on Saturday evening. This unusually large full moon -- known as a super "perigee moon" -- will be the biggest in almost 20 years, according to NASA.

"A 'Super Moon' is a situation when the moon is slightly closer to Earth in its orbit than on average, and this effect is most noticeable when it occurs at the same time as a full moon," says James Garvin, chief scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.
It's so close because the moon's orbit around the Earth is not a perfect circle, but an ellipse, according to Weather Channel meteorologist Tim Ballisty.
When the Moon's orbit takes it the farthest away from Earth, the moon is at its "apogee," Ballisty says. When it makes its closest approach, the moon is at its "perigee."
So not only will it be a full moon Saturday, but it will also be at its perigee. This month's perigee will put the moon about 8% closer to Earth than usual, and about 2% closer to Earth than the average lunar perigee.
The best time to look at the full moon is when it's near the horizon. That is when illusion mixes with reality to produce a truly stunning view, NASA reports. Low-hanging moons look unnaturally large when they beam through trees, buildings and other foreground objects.
According to NASA and NOAA, although a perigee moon brings with it extra-high "perigean tides," it's nothing to worry about. In most places, lunar gravity at perigee pulls tide waters only about an inch or so higher than usual. Local geography can amplify the effect to about six inches.

2:45pm

Well, I contacted my high school friend.
Come to find out he's not
going back to Germany
and will be staying here in Ohio.

3:00-4:30pm

I got a ham in the crock pot.
I added a small can of crushed
pineapple with juice to the
bottom and mixed in some brown sugar.
Will use this for sandwiches
and a couple meals.  Leftover ham and the
bone will be used for
ham & potato soup and
ham and bean soup for the freezer.

Borrowed mom's truck and
loaded up some sticks, branches
and all the pompass grass.
Took it all to Tony's work to get rid of it.

Stopped in Taco Bell for lunch.
Got the $2.00 meals for everyone.

Got the side window frame in the dining
room painted.
I also removed the blind and took
it outside and hung on the gate.
I took a hose to it and then sponged
it down with soap and water.
Trying to save on the extra
expense of buying a new blind
at around $15.
When pricing blinds I found you
can buy some kinds cheaper at
Lowes than you could at Walmart.

5:10pm

Starting to wear down. (YAWN!)
Still need to make a run to Kroger
to pick up some more milk
and get some things to make
soups with.
We'll probably be tired
of eating ham this coming week, lol.

6:30pm
Just returned from Kroger.
I got 6 more Cadbury Eggs
free with my coupons.
I now have 9 Cadbury Eggs
and 3 Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs,
all FREE!
Slowly stocking up on
Easter stuff for baskets.

6:45pm

Took the ham out of the crock pot
and sliced it & divided it all up.

Here's the meals I'll get out of
that $5-$6.00 ham:

-Tonight's supper-
ham and cheese sandwiches
with organic white cheddar cheesy shells.
(1 meal)

-ham & bean soup
(about 2-3 meals)

-ham, potato & cheese soup
(about 2-3 meals)

-breakfast tomorrow morning,
fried ham slices with eggs
& pancakes.
(1 meal)

-Weekday breakfast sandwiches
made from free rolls from
senior center, eggs, cheese & ham.
(2 meals)

I even had some leftover mac & shells
from tonight's supper that
I'm putting in the freezer.
I can throw that into a homemade veggie
soup sometime.

8:35pm

This is about the best pictures
I could get of the "super moon"
with my camera.
It's pretty awesome looking
at it with binoculars!
