I have 2 bags of grapes
I got free.  There's so many of
them I don't think they are getting
eaten fast enough before they go
bad.  I plan to remove them all
from their stems, put in a collander
and give a good cold rinse, place them
all in a single layer on a cookie sheet.
Then put in freezer. Once frozen, remove
and place inside a large ziploc bag.
Frozen grapes can be eaten as a cold
treat, placed in a fruity drink, water
or even a punch bowl at a party
as ice cubes or used in smoothies
or salads.
As an added treat once you wash them
you could roll them in sugar before
freezing.

I sprinkled the grapes with
Apriva, Kroger's brand of Splenda.

10:45am

Breakfast-
Our favorite!
I've been making this for
at least 10-11 years now.
Fry up a pound of sausage,
our favorite is Bob Evans
maple sausage.
You could add in a small chopped
onion and bell peppers if desired.
Once the sausage is browned you
can either leave the grease in the pan
or drain it.  If you drain it then
you need to add either butter,
oil or I have even used Italian
dressing to fry the potatoes with.
Gives it a good flavor!
I boiled up some potatoes last night
and refrigerated them.
This morning I peeled and
shredded them.  I used between
5-8 small to medium potatoes.

 Add the potatoes to the
sausage.  Fry til golden brown.
In a small bowl whisk together
5 eggs and a little milk.

Pour this over top the potatoes & sausage.
Cook and stir til eggs are done.

Serve with shredded cheddar cheese
on top.
Hot sauce optional.

Where oh where did my little
blog go, oh where oh where
could it be?

I have no idea what happened
to all the stuff I wrote about
earlier today went.  GRRRRR!
The auto draft save doesn't seem
to be working too well!
I looked and 90% of everything
I wrote earlier had disappeared!
So I'll have to do a quick recap.
Let's see how well my memory is!

-----------------------------------------

Went to the thrift store to
drop off some donations.
Also went inside to pick up
Jonathan a few more pants
since he is going through a
growth spurt.
$1.99 for each pair
also $1.99 for the shirt.
Since I cannot afford decorative
pictures I found some fabric
pillow shams to make some
decorative wall art out of.
I bought 2 large ones like
the one below for .99 cents each.

And a smaller sham for .59 cents.

Supper tonight will
be pork chops.

I put the bag of seasoned croutons
along with a handful of crispy
fried onions in the food processor.
I dipped the chops in Italian
dressing then into the crumb mixture.

I have 5 leftover boiled potatoes from
breakfast.  I cut each one in half
and have them warming in the
oven along side the pork chops.
I plan to use sour cream spinach
dip on the tops of the potatoes.
Like my idea of using a mini
muffin tin to hold the potatoes in the
oven, LOL.  It was handy so that's
what I used.

I got three pairs of Jonathan's
pants turned into shorts.
These were pants of his that
still fit good around the waist
but was getting too short.

First I used another pair
of his shorts to determine the length.
I cut it a little longer to add
for hem allowance.

Then instead of dragging out
all my sewing stuff I used
clothes pins to hold the hem
while I sewed it.
I have clothes pins readily
available in my kitchen utensil
drawer since I use them for bags
and chips.

1:35pm

Had to make a run to Henderson Rd.
Kroger to get Tony's prescription.

Some mark downs I got-
two gallons of milk for $1.39 each.
was $2.79 each

2 two packs of sweet Italian bread
for .89 cents each.
Was $2.69 each.
Two packages of cauliflower
.99 cents each.
Reg. $2-$3.00 each.
Boneless round steak $5.34.
Was $7.64.
Tarter sauce .50 cents.
4 Cadbury eggs &
4 Reeses peanut butter eggs.
Was .50 cents each.
I got them all FREE.
(and I picked up even more
coupons for them from Speedway
this morning!)

Later on today I plan to cut up the
round steak into cubes and divide
it up into 3 containers to use
for 3 different meals.
One meal will be steak,
potatoes and carrots with
homemade gravy.

I almost cheated at Kroger.
I wanted some hash browns for a
breakfast tomorrow morning
and I almost picked up a frozen bag
of them.  I then realized it would
be cheaper to walk my butt clear
across the store and get me a
10 pound bag of potatoes for
almost the same price that would
last for many meals compared
to one meal with a frozen bag of potatoes.

Before Kroger we went to Kmart
to get both boys and hubby a new
pair of shoes.  In this situation,
cheaper is not always better
because you'll have to buy shoes
more often as they don't hold
up as well.
But that does not mean to buy
shoes that cost $50-$100+.
Tony and Christopher got the same
kind of shoes.  They were made by
Coleman, the company that makes
camping stuff.  It's like a tennis shoe
that has the look of a hiking boot.
They were $30 each but they had
buy 1 get 1 50% off.
Then Jonathan found a pair of
quality leather tennis shoes
that was $30 marked down to
$20.
Yeah I splurged but they should
hold up for quite some time
rather than paying $10 each month
for shoes for everyone from Walmart.

The last time I bought the kids and
my hubby shoes from Kmart we
paid $25 for each pair and they lasted
almost a half year.  They are still
holding up even though they don't look
the prettiest anymore.  No rips, tears
or the bottoms falling off.
They can still use them as play shoes.

I also splurged and got some
zippered mattress covers for
everyone's bed.
Twin $7.99
Queen $11-$12.

I hate to say this but one of my kids
found a string hanging off their
mattress and decided to pull on
it.  Well that detached one side of the upper
mattress pad from the side of the mattress.
So yeah, you can see the inside of the mattress
on one side, springs and all.  Grrrr!
I cannot afford a new mattress
and I sure as heck ain't buying
or getting a free used one
due to the risk right now with
bed bugs.  So we'll have to make
do with what we have.
I'm hoping the complete vinyl
mattress cover with zipper will
help hold it all together.
$7.99 for a mattress cover
or a couple hundred or more for a new
twin mattress!
Like I say,
Do what ya gotta do
with what ya gotta do it with!!

4:30pm
Supper-
Something simple,
leftover potato soup with
leftover sliced French bread pizza.
You know how people like to
dip grilled cheese sandwiches
into soups. Well here we're dipping
the French bread pizza.

One time I'll have to make up
a supreme pizza soup.
Something I just now
made up.
Make a tomato based soup
maybe add in a can of beef broth,
throw in some sausage, pepperoni,
onion, bell peppers, mushrooms and whatever
else you find on a pizza.
Stuff you would probably have
leftovers of to begin with.
Spoon into bowls, top with
shredded cheddar or mozarella cheese.
Serve with bread like French or garlic
to dip into soup.

I am currently boiling another
pot of potatoes.  Once done
I'll drain and store in the fridge.
This makes them last longer
than if left in the bag.
Tomorrow morning
I will use some for breakfast
shredded up.

At the moment I'm working on
getting the kids rooms cleaned up.
Don't know if I'll get around
to painting more today.  I'm feeling
pretty worn down as it is.

---------------------------------

I read this in an email today
and thought I would pass it along.
It says it's for people 50 and over.

I lost it when the lady was
asked paper or plastic and she
said she was bi-sackual!
And when asked it she tweeted
and said no, but she does toot.
LOL!

A good laugh for people in the over 50 group !!! Also for those who know people like us.

When I bought my Blackberry I thought about the 30-year business I ran with 1800 employees, all without a cell phone that plays music, takes videos, pictures and communicates with Facebook and Twitter. I signed up under duress for Twitter and Facebook, so my seven kids, their spouses, 13 grandkids and 2 great grand kids could communicate with me in the modern way. I figured I could handle something as simple as Twitter with only 140 characters of space.

That was before one of my grandkids hooked me up for Tweeter, Tweetree, Twhirl, Twitterfon, Tweetie and Twittererific Tweetdeck, Twitpix and something that sends every message to my cell phone and every other program within the texting world.

My phone was beeping every three minutes with the details of everything except the bowel movements of the entire next generation. I am not ready to live like this. I keep my cell phone in the garage in my golf bag.

The kids bought me a GPS for my last birthday because they say I get lost every now and then going over to the grocery store or library. I keep that in a box under my tool bench with the Blue tooth [it's red] phone I am supposed to use when I drive. I wore it once and was standing in line at Barnes and Noble talking to my wife and everyone in the nearest 50 yards was glaring at me. I had to take my hearing aid out to use it, and I got a little loud.

I mean the GPS looked pretty smart on my dash board, but the lady inside that gadget was the most annoying, rudest person I had run into in a long time. Every 10 minutes, she would sarcastically say, "Re-calc-u-lating." You would think that she could be nicer. It was like she could barely tolerate me. She would let go with a deep sigh and then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light. Then if I made a right turn instead. Well, it was not a good relationship.

When I get really lost now, I call my wife and tell her the name of the cross streets and while she is starting to develop the same tone as Gypsy, the GPS lady, at least she loves me.

To be perfectly frank, I am still trying to learn how to use the cordless phones in our house. We have had them for 4 years, but I still haven't figured out how I can lose three phones all at once and have run around digging under chair cushions and checking bathrooms and the dirty laundry baskets when the phone rings.

The world is just getting too complex for me. They even mess me up every time I go to the grocery store. You would think they could settle on something themselves but this sudden "Paper or Plastic?" every time I check out just knocks me for a loop. I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking confused, but I never remember to take them in with me.

Now I toss it back to them. When they ask me, "Paper or Plastic?" I just say, "Doesn't matter to me. I am bi-sacksual." Then it's their turn to stare at me with a blank look. I was recently asked if I tweet. I answered, No, but I do toot a lot."

P.S. I know some of you are not over 50. I sent it to you to allow you to forward it to those who are.

Us senior citizens don't need anymore gadgets. The tv remote and the garage door remote are about all we can handle.

-------------------------------------------

7:30pm

Me and Tony are still tackling the
kids bedrooms.  He's got one and
I got the other.  Trying to take it
down to the basics if possible.
The less they have in there the
less they mess up!  It's amazing what
you can find in there from lost
school library books to about
5 pairs of scissors that went missing.
We won't talk
about the unidentifiable stuff lurking in
the closets and under the beds!

Told y'all I was in a weeding out
mood!  Every room in this place
will eventually be weeded out.
Then once it warms up
we'll work our way out to the shed,
the man and boys cave.

3-25-11

8:20am

I started working on getting
all the cable/dvr & surround
boxes in the tv shelf.  I figured
since the tv/sofa table was already
pulled out I should go ahead and
paint the wall behind it.  So I have
started cutting in then will work
on the trim this morning.
So here is the before pictures.
And yes it's official, I have wiped out
my living room.
Hey, is that HGTV on the TV?
LOL

11:20am
I did 3 coats of white paint
on the bottom trim, 1 coat
on the top molding and
then a coat on the walls.
Once again color is not true in photos.
Now I need to tie up some wires
hanging below the tv.
Watching The Quick And The Dead, lol.
I started watching it last night
but fell asleep.

Tony called this morning asking
when the kids go on Spring break.
He's putting in for one of his
vacations then.  Maybe we'll head
down to Hocking Hills for a few
days who knows.
Last year we went early June.
I just hope it's not raining in the
later part of April!
I got 3 weeks to plan for it.

12:30pm

I got all the wire twisty tied up
underneath the tv stand.
Before
After
Still debating if I want the
surround speakers on the shelf
above the tv.

5:00pm

Supper tonight-

Earlier this week mom had gotten
me free onion buns and
a loaf of French bread.
The 8 onion buns were smushed
flat so had to think of another
way to use them.
My smooshed onion buns.
I flipped them over to the backside,
spread on some ranch dressing.
And added all these toppings-
4 cheese Mexican blend shredded cheese,
pepperoni, ham, green peppers, onions,
garlic powder, Italian seasoning
and parmesan cheese.

I cut the French bread in half
and added ranch dressing,
pepperoni, ham, garlic powder,
Italian seasoning & parmesan cheese.

Total cost to make all the above:
$4.60!
Serves 12 @ .38 cents a serving.
Lots cheaper than ordering pizzas!!

----------------------------------
Well we played the lottery today,
actually Tony went in with others
at work.  They got 90 sets
of numbers.
We don't normally play the lottery.
This is a once in a blue moon
thing for us.
Lottery is at $312 million at the moment.
----------------------------------

7:15pm

Just back from Kroger.
Needed some milk.
Found16 ounce containers
of ranch and spinach dip
for .59 cents each,
a package of pork chops for $2.86
and lastly 3 Cadbury eggs
and 3 peanut butter eggs which
were free with coupons.
--------------------------------

8:30-9:15pm

Got more molding painted,
the front door frame painted
and some wood putty put into
any cracks.

Here's each side of the hallway.
I got about 1/3rd done down each side.
The other 2/3rds needs caulked along
the edges since that never got done
since we put it up.
I know it's a lot of the same ole same ole
here lately.
I am one person doing all
these projects!  So are showing that
anyone could be capable of doing
things themselves to save money.

The door frame.
The upper molding
painted on the front wall
of the living room.

Ok it's 9:30 so it's quitting time
for me.   Bed time is lurking
just around the corner.
At the moment watching
Ghost Adventures.  It's an ok
show.  I like my Ghost Hunters
better.
